The trail beside Ravnsgård
is on a property with a dairy herd. The trail continues past Stor River and a peat bog. When burying a gas pipe in the area, the remains of an Iron
Age village was found. |

Harrild Heath
The sand earth in the heath was deposited by melt water which, during the last Ice Age, ran off west from the main ice mass lying down through central
Jutland. Over-grassing and tree-clearance meant that from 1500-1800 the wind started the sand erosion. |

Nørlund Plantation
Nørlund plantation, when combined with Harrild Heath, covers an area of about 3000 hectares. The conditions for afforestation are poor due to the
erosion of the sand, therefore the plantation can in reality best be described as heath with spread copses. |

is a remnant of a moraine formation dating from the second last Ice Age. During the last Ice Age the lower lying parts of this ancient landscape were

is an old country grocer with groceries placed on the shelves as in the good old days. There is also an exhibition of the locality in the building. |

was built around 1850 and is a rather unique »Land Dutchman«. This preserved mill has a thatched cap and the octagonal body is also thatched down to
ground-level. Both inside and outside nearly all the wood and equipment is intact. |

is a multi-culture house which is still n development. When railway traffic was at its zenith 250 men were employed at Brande Railway Staion and
25 locomotives had their depot there. Brande had been the centre of the brown coal traffic from the camps in Søby to the rest of industry in Denmark. |

The Water-power Station/Elkraft Lake
The River Skjern is dammed at Brandes old power station (1910). Elkraft Lake is like an oasis with a salmon ladder, clear blue water and a varied bird
life. Through the gable window it is possible to see the oldest working copper turbines in Denmark. |

Galtkær/Hastrup Plantation
Surrounded by trees and with Skjern River flowing through, Hastrup Lake lies near the Jutland Ridge. Hastrup Plantation to the west, was planted in
1877. To the south west of the plantation is Galtkær, a popular place for birds, and it was formed by the damming of Galtkær Brook, done in order to
lessen the entry of ochre into Skjern River. |

The Crooked Railway line
The nature trail between Brande and Ejstrupholm is placed on the old railway line between Silkeborg and Brande. The trail has been open since 1995 for
walkers, cyclists and horsemen. |

The track by Ejstrupholm
The property has previously been a traditional family farm. Today it is driven in an environmentally friendly manner to protect the ground water.
The track leads across an area with prehistoric mounds and, before afforestation took place, traces of ancient houses were found. |
