ACROSS JUTLAND
DESCRIPTIONS FOR MAP 5 and 6

31. Videbæk-Skjern Veteran and Model Railway
A trip on a track bicycle between Herborg and Kongsholm on the disused Videbæk-Skjern line. There are resting-places along the track.

32. Brejning Copse
One of the most beautiful oak copses in Jutland with orchids and sword-leaved helleborines. There is an almost 2 kilometre long footpath in the approximately 45 hectare protected private area.

33. Ejstrup Lakes
Previously a brown coalfield now with a marked nature trail.

35. Borris Heath
(720 hectares approx.) is an example of a large, flat heath that once was common in West Jutland before the cultivation and afforestation took place. The area is used as a military training ground but it is possible to gain access at times by asking at the main gate. The cycle route through the training ground may be used by horsemen at the weekend. The footpath on this stretch of the river valley goes north or south of Skjern River.

36. Spangen
The footbridge is a narrow wooden bridge over Skjern River in Ahler just west of Borris. A chance for a walk along the winding Skjern River.

37. River Skjern North Canal
The canal is part of the comprehensive meadow watering system created by the Land Development Service in the 1870’s. The canal systems ensured enough water for about 1200 hectares of meadowland which in return gave a good production of hay.
